1. Chisapani Nagarkot Trek

Chisapani Nagarkot Hike, also known as Kathmandu Rim Valley Trek, is a famous and easily accessible hiking trail near Kathmandu Valley. It starts from Kathmandu and proceeds to Chisapani via Sundarijal. This hike allows you to escape the city’s hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in nature’s beauty. The trail offers spectacular mountain scenery, glimpses of charming village lifestyles, and insights into the local culture and traditions. It’s a perfect choice for first-time visitors to the Himalayas or those seeking a shorter trek that still showcases the essence of trekking in the region. 2.   Ghorepani Poon hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is one of the most popular short treks in the Annapurna region and offers great views of the Himalayas, including Mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Birethati & Trek to Ulleri

  • Morning:
    • After breakfast, you drive to Birethati (about a 2-hour drive) from Pokhara.
    • Birethati is a small village at the beginning of the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek and also a starting point for the Annapurna Base Camp trek.
    • This is where the trek officially begins

Day 2: Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,874 m) – 6/7 hours

      • After breakfast, your trek continues with a steep uphill climb right from the start. You’ll be tackling stone steps for about 1–1.5 hours, which will lead you to the top of Ulleri.
      • Ulleri is a medium-sized village with traditional Nepalese houses featuring slated roofs. The climb is physically demanding, but the reward is the amazing scenery and the chance to witness the traditional lifestyle of the local Magar people. After reaching the top of Ulleri, the trail gradually levels off, and you enter a cool, shaded forest filled with rhododendron trees and pine trees. This area is incredibly peaceful and offers a refreshing break from the climb, with birds singing and the occasional glimpse of wildlife. The forested path is beautiful and enchanting, especially during spring when the rhododendrons are in full bloom, creating a colorful carpet of flowers.
Day 3: Hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) & Trek to Tadapani (2,721 m)6/7 hours
  • Early Morning:
    • You’ll begin your day before dawn with a 1-hour climb from Ghorepani to Poon Hill, which is situated at an altitude of 3,210 meters (10,532 feet). This is a popular spot for trekking enthusiasts, offering one of the most famous sunrise views in the Annapurna region.
    • As the sun rises, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks, including Dhaulagiri (7th highest in the world), Annapurna I (10th highest), and Manaslu (8th highest), as well as the iconic Machhapuchhre (also known as Fish Tail due to its unique shape).
    • The sight of the sun casting golden hues over these towering peaks is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and it’s an excellent way to start the day.
  • Morning Return to Ghorepani:
    • After enjoying the sunrise and taking in the spectacular views, you’ll head back down to Ghorepani for breakfast. This return hike is fairly quick and will give you a chance to savor the morning light on the landscape.
  • Trekking from Ghorepani to Tadapani:
    • After breakfast, your trek continues toward Tadapani. You’ll be walking through dense forests of rhododendron and pine with occasional breaks in the trail where you can see glimpses of the surrounding mountains.
    • The route is a mix of uphill and downhill trekking. It can be slightly challenging in places, but the beautiful forest scenery, combined with the surrounding mountain views, makes it a pleasant journey.

Day 4: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,951 m) – 3 hours and Drive to Pokhara – 3/4 hours

    • Morning:
      • After breakfast, you’ll leave Tadapani and begin your easy descent toward Ghandruk, one of the largest and most beautiful villages in the region. The trail follows a gentle downhill path through lush greenery, passing through Bhaisikharka, a charming village en route.
      • The trek to Ghandruk is only about 3 hours, making it a relatively easy and relaxed day compared to previous days of trekking.
    • Exploring Ghandruk:
      • Ghandruk is known for its traditional Gurung culture and the stunning views of the Himalayas, including Machhapuchhre (Fish Tail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The village itself is a wonderful place to explore, with narrow streets, stone houses, and beautiful terraced fields.
      • You can take the opportunity to explore the Gurung Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the local Gurung people. The museum provides fascinating insights into the life, traditions, and customs of the region, and it’s an excellent stop for anyone interested in the local heritage.

7. Royal Trek

The Royal Trek, named after Prince Charles’ exploration in 1981, offers stunning views of the Annapurna, Fishtail, and Manaslu mountains. Starting with a half-hour drive from Pokhara, the trek begins at Kalikastan. It takes you through picturesque Gurung villages, terraced farms, and lush forests. The trek concludes at Begnas Lake, approximately 30 km from Pokhara. This easy trek is ideal for those with limited time and a basic level of fitness.  Camping is recommended as there are no tea houses available along the route.

8. Everest Short Trek

A 35-minute flight from Kathmandu takes you to Lukla, the gateway to Everest Base Camp. 10. Gosaikunda Lake Trek

Situated at an altitude of 4,380 m, Gosainkunda Lake holds great religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is believed that bathing in the holy lake cleanses one’s pain, sorrows, and sins. This sacred frozen lake in the Langtang region is visited by domestic and Indian pilgrims during the Janai Purnima festival in early September, while trekkers can explore it throughout the year via the Langtang and Helambu treks. The trek can be completed as a short trip from Kathmandu and back.
