Langtang Gosaikunda Trek
Langtang Gosaikunda trek is a wonderful trekking trail in Nepal. This trek combines the remote and picturesque valley.
The trek also provides an opportunity to explore the high mountains lake, Gosaikunda (4380m), Saraswati Kunda, and Ganesh Kunda. The lake is populated by Sherpa and Tamang inhabitants in the North-West of Kathmandu Valley. This lake is also famous for its pure culture and religion with magnificent Himalayan views.
Trek is one of the most challenging trekking trails in Nepal. It offers an incredible and diverse journey along the Langtang Valley and the holy lakes of Gosaikunda. The unique blend of culture, landscape, and panoramic views of Langtang en route to the trail. It is one of the best opportunities to get right in among the Himalayan peaks and to get off the beaten trail, walking along within some captivating isolated places.
There is a restriction on the use of firewood within the park, so all supplies should bring with us. The organized camping treks are promising in this region. The trek requires 13 days. The people living in Langtang, are of Tibetan origin, though they introduce themselves as Tamang or Gurung.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)
A representative from Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure welcomes you outside the International Terminal Gate with your name and takes you to your hotel for an overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing( 4 – 6hr)
Today after breakfast we start a tour of several most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. The day is also for finalizing official procedures and other necessary arrangements. We visit the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu as below
- Patan Durbar Square
Patan Durbar Square is a fascinating combination of palace buildings, artistic courtyards, and graceful pagoda temples. The Krishna Mandir (Temple) from the 17th century is a major attraction. The patanPatan museum contains bronze statues and other religious objects which has great significance. Durbar Square has both religious and cultural importance and the surroundings are artistically beautiful.
- Pashupatinath Temple:
The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant Hindu temples in Asia with over 500 small and big shrines, Lingams, and temples in the temple complex.
- Boudhanath Stupa:
The largest stupa and center of Tibetan Buddhism that is in the Kathmandu valley. One of the best places to relax and take a hint of Buddhist culture is in Kathmandu. After the Sightseeing, we will drive you back to the hotel.
- Swayambhunath Temple:
Also known as the ‘Monkey Temple’, this is one of the oldest heritage sites in Nepal. From the top viewpoint, you will have an amazing view of the capital city “Kathmandu”.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubesi (1500m) 7 – 8 Hours
After breakfast, a long drive to Syabru Besi on a tourist bus. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, lovely villages, and snow-capped mountains on the way. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2480m)
The trek begins with walking through the dense forest, passing a bridge, and witnessing waterfalls. A long uphill ascent traversing the forest, traversing a suspension bridge over the Langtang Khola. Reach at Lama Hotel and stay overnight.

Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m)
The walk on the trail passes the hemlock, and rhododendron forest to reach Ghoratabela, A stunning view of Langtang Lirung, and reach the army check-post. Register for the permit to Langtang and trek forward. Pass the Thangshyap village and reach the vicinity of Langtang National Park. Stay Overnight at a lodge.

Day 06: Trek from Langtang to Kyangjin Gompa (3860m)
An uphill trek to Kyangjin Gompa passing many small villages. Upon reaching Kyangjin Gompa, get a glimpse of beautiful Buddhist monasteries. Adore the surrounding mountain vistas and explore the monasteries and nearby two cheese factories. Stay Overnight.

Day 07: Acclimatization day in Kyangjin Gompa
An acclimatization rest at Kyangjin Gompa. A hike to Kyangjin Ri (4773m) viewpoint for spectacular views of snow-capped mountains. Alternately, a hike to Tsergo Ri (5033m). Descend slowly following the same trail and explore Kyangjin. Stay Overnight.

Day 08: Trek to Lama Hotel/Changtang (2480m)
A pleasant trail descending and ascending Langtang village, and passing other villages to Lama Hotel/Changtang. Stay Overnight.

Day 09: Trek from Lama Hotel/Changtang to Thulo Syabru village (2260)
After breakfast, walk passing the villages on a lovely trail to reach Thulo Syabru. The wonderful views of Mt. Langtang and Mt. Ganesh from Thulo Syabru. Stay Overnight. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Day 10: Trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3250m)
An uphill climb traversing bamboo, pine, and rhododendron forest surrounded by snowy mountains. Pass several villages and arrive at Sing Gompa. Stay Overnight.

Day 11: Trek from Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4380m)
An exciting trek to the Gosaikunda via Lauribina Pass (4,610m) after breakfast. A gradual uphill walk on a lovely trail to reach Gosaikunda. The Gosainkunda is a holy lake and witness amazing mountain vistas from there. A little trek further and explore Saraswati Kunda, Ganesh Kunda, and nearby Kundas (lakes). Descend and stay overnight at a guesthouse. Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Day 12: Trek from Gosaikunda to Sing Gompa (3250m)
After breakfast, descend to Sing Gompa via Lauribinayak. Pass the forest of rhododendron and pine witnessing Mt. Ganesh, Langtang Lirung, Manaslu, and surrounding peaks. Stay overnight.

Day 13: Trek from Sing Gompa to Dhunche (2090m)
Walk through the pine, rhododendron, and bamboo forest passing Ramche village to Dhunche. A pleasant and gradual walk and stay overnight at Dhunche.

Day 14: Drive to Kathmandu (5 to 7 hours)
We drive to Kathmandu via Dhunche. Join us for a farewell dinner with Nepali Family in the evening. Stay overnight at a hotel.

Our Driver takes you to the International Airport 3 hours earlier than your schedule to catch the International Flight for your onward Destination. Have a safe journey.

Accommodation during the Trek
Lodges or teahouses will have basic facilities with such as beds, blankets, and pillows during the Trek. The availability of attached bathrooms is there in the lower regions only. As you go higher, The number of hotel are limited so bathrooms are outside the Room. The additional facilities like using Wi-Fi, charging electronic devices, laundry, hot shower, etc. Need to pay an extra.
Meals during the Trek
The 3-course full-board meals are provided during the Trek. Meal options are limited. Dal-Bhat is the primary food with some options like soup, eggs, noodles, hot tea, etc also available.
Drinking Water during the Trek
In Lower Places here will be Bottled water, and if you go higher there will be option either Tap water, and boiled water for drinking water during the Trek. Pay an extra cost for drinking or boiled water at teahouses or lodges or buy bottled water as a preference. For safe drinking water we suggest you to carry water purification kits and a water bottle for ease.
Internet and Phone Networks during the Trek
Internet and Phone networks during the treks are stable mostly in the lower regions. In the higher regions sometime networks are unstable. For the use of Wi-Fi, pay an additional cost at teahouses.
Best Season for the Trek
Spring (Mar – May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) are the best seasons for the Langtang Trek. The clear weather, stable temperatures, awesome panoramic vistas, and comfortable trekking trails make these seasons ideal for this trek.
Trek Difficulty
Trek is difficult considering its ascends and descends, high elevations, daily long hours of walking, rough trails, and limited availability of teahouses or lodges. Also, the chances of getting altitude sickness are common. Thus, acclimatization rest is essential. With proper preparation, this trek is possible.
Altitude Sickness and Preventions
Altitude Sickness is common in the Trek. To prevent it, acclimatization rest is essential. Thus, utilize rest days properly to adapt to the surroundings.
Symptoms of altitude sickness are
- Headache
- Lethargy
- A drop in performance
- Loose of motion
- Insomnia
- Appetite loss
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Vomiting.
Inform your guides if you experience any symptoms during the trek.
Preventive measures for Altitude Sickness are:
- Stretch and warm up before trekking.
- Stay hydrated with regular water intake.
- Ascend gradually and rest well.
- Avoid salt, alcohol, and smoking.
- Urinate frequently.
- Descend if feeling unwell.
- Consult guides for medicine
Fitness Level during the Trek
We recommend trekkers participate in physical exercises and short hikes for a few months, and necessary physical check-ups before commencing this trek.
