Pikey Peak Trail
Pikey Peak Trail is a recently built trekking destination in Solukhumbu Region. Pikey Peak is one of the tallest” Hills” in the Solu Region. The name Pikey derived from the name of a Sherpa Clan deity. During July, there are different celebrations to worship their clan god by the locals. This peak offers a majestic view of the Everest Himalayan Range and Numbur Chuli.
Pikey Peak Trek is an amazing adventure in the lowlands of Everest that involves easy and short trekking which can be done in spring, autumn, and winter. It is a new trail trekking area providing amazing views of the Eastern Himalayas. According to Sir Edmund Hillary (the first climber of Mount Everest), Pikey Peak (4065m. |13333ft.) provides one of the most impressive views of Mount Everest. For people interested in a short trek in the Solukhumbu region, Pikey Peak trekking can be considered as an excellent choice.
The attractive landscapes and easy trekking route make Pikey Peak Trekking a unique experience. What’s more exciting about it is that you don’t need to undergo the tedious trek from Kathmandu to Lukla in order to reach the starting point of the trek. One needs to travel for around 7-8 hours from Kathmandu in order to reach Dhap (2850m. |9348ft.). The trekking route will lead you through small villages and dense rhododendron-pine forest areas.
The trail passes through many different beautiful settlements. You can also visit the ancient Buddhist Monastery of Thupten Chholing and enjoy the unique Sherpa culture. During the festival season in August cleansing rituals at the sacred lakes provides the performance with several important Shamans.
The Pikey Danda is very famous for its sunrise and sunset views. Also, you can enjoy the glorious sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu Valley to the plains along with the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, and Makalu. This trekking has to be organized camping style however also small lodges and the possibility of homestay have started on this route.

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival (1,350m/4,428ft)

As you arrive at Tribhuvan Internation Airport, Kathmanndu, One of the Representative from Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure will be waiting for you outside the terminal holding your name to escort you to your specified Hotel. Upon your arrival you will be warmly welcomed and transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu. After Check in you will be briefed to carry out the final preparation required for the trek. So that you can relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing (4 – 6 hrs)
After breakfast, you proceed to the Kathmandu Valley sightseeing places in which you will visit the major world heritage sites and beautiful attractions around the valley throughout today. Some of these might be
Durbar Squares Three durbar squares in the valley representing the major cities of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur (Patan) here resemble the rich history, art, and culture of the Kathmandu Valley. Among them, you will visit Patan Durbar Square.
- Patan Durbar Square:
Patan Durbar Square is a fascinating combination of palace buildings, artistic courtyards, and graceful pagoda temples. The Krishna Mandir (Temple) from the 17th century is a major attraction. The patanPatan museum contains bronze statues and other religious objects which has great significance. Durbar Square has both religious and cultural importance and the surroundings are artistically beautiful.
- Pashupatinath Temple:
The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most significant Hindu temples in Asia with over 500 small and big shrines, Lingams, and temples in the temple complex.
- Boudhanath Stupa:
The largest stupa and center of Tibetan Buddhism that is in the Kathmandu valley. One of the best places to relax and take a hint of Buddhist culture is in Kathmandu. After the Sightseeing, we will drive you back to the hotel.
- Swayambhunath Temple:
Also known as the ‘Monkey Temple’, this is one of the oldest heritage sites in Nepal. From the top viewpoint, you will have an amazing view of the capital city “Kathmandu”.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Dhap Bazar(2,850m/9350.394ft)
After Having breakfast in the moring we will take Local Bus or Sharing Jeep to Dhap Bazar which takes us nearly 6,7 hour. We start our journey by following the B. P. Highway till we reach the small town of Ghumri, which is situated at the divide of the Sunkoshi river. We entered Ghumri and turned off the road to Dhap Bazaar through a beautiful forest of rhododendron trees. The vehicle takes us higher, our destination is higher elevation. Finally we arrive at Dhap Bazaar where we will spend the night.

Day 04: Dhap to Jhapre (2,815m/9235.564ft) 4 – 6hour
After the first meal of the day we start our journey. We shall pursue the unreconstructed trial through the village of Sigane. On the way we will enjoy the picturesque view of Nambur Himal and Mt. Everest. So we will make contact with the village of Japre and spend the night there. Overnight stay at Jhapre.

Day 05: Jhpre to Pikey Base Camp (3,640m/11942.26ft)
Wake up to catch the first rays of sun over the Himalayas. After breakfast we drive to the Bhulbhule – the best place to view the magnificent Everest Massif. We walk through the rhododendron forest, cross the Yak pasturelands and reach the ridge of Taklung Danda. Again, continuing the trek, through the rhododendron forests, long Mani walls and the fantastic views of the white peaks, we finally reach Pikey Base Camp where we spend the night. Today we start our journey early in the morning and reach the highest point- Pikey Peak (4065m). We climb up to the top. On reaching there we have the picturesque astonishing 360 degree views of the peaks such as Mt Everest, Thamsherku, Numbur Himal, Kangtega, Dhaulagiri in the west, Mera Peak, Mt. Gaurishankar and many more.

Day 06: Pikey peak base camp to Junbesi via Pikey Peak (4,065m)
We descend down to Lamjura pass and further down to Junbesi with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. On the way down we shall experience alpine scenery, many stupas and Mani walls including attractive prayer flags. Junbesi Overnight

Day 07: Explore Thupten Choling Gompa, Junbeshi (2,920 m)
After having our early meal we move up along the Junbesi River towards Thupten Choling Gompa. Here we get the opportunity to explore the rich culture and heritage. We shall also visit the village, the pure land of Sherpas and the way of life of the local people. Junbesi over night.

Day 08: Junbesi to Phaplu(2380m/7808Ft)
Today we are supposed to follow the descending sandy trail until we come across a steel suspension bridge. We will reach the point of Beni Ghat through the bridge. We have to keep on following the scenic path up to when we are near Phaplu. While we bid farewell to Rolwaling, we can also go exploring around the area.

Day 09: Drive back from Phaplu to Kathmandu
After our breakfast at Phaplu, We will begin our trip for Kathmandu in Sharing or Private Jeep it depend on group size. Recalling the trip to Pikey Peak, it will take us approximately 8, 9 hours to reach Kathmandu.
