Pikey Peak Trail is a recently built trekking destination in Solukhumbu Region. Pikey Peak is one of the tallest” Hills” in the Solu Region. The name Pikey derived from the name of a Sherpa Clan deity. During July, there are different celebrations to worship their clan god by the locals. This peak offers a majestic view of the Everest Himalayan Range and Numbur Chuli.

The trail passes through many different beautiful settlements. You can also visit the ancient Buddhist Monastery of Thupten Chholing and enjoy the unique Sherpa culture. During the festival season in August cleansing rituals at the sacred lakes provides the performance with several important Shamans.

The Pikey Danda is very famous for its sunrise and sunset views. Also, you can enjoy the glorious sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu Valley to the plains along with the Himalayan range of Mt. Everest, and Makalu. This trekking has to be organized camping style however also small lodges and the possibility of homestay have started on this route.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu which takes 35 minutes

Day 04: Trek from Salleri to Ghunsa via Dorpu and it takes about six hours

Day 05: Trek from Ghunsa to Pattale via Kerung which takes about eight hours

Day 06: Trek from Pattale to Jhapre and it takes about six hours

Day 07: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey which takes about six hours

Day 08: Trek from Pikey to Junbesi and it takes about five hours

Day 09: Trek from Junbesi to Thuptenchholing and trek back to Junbesi which takes about four hours

Day 10: Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu and it takes about six hours

Day 11: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes

Day 12: Departure

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

A representative from HSA will pick us up from the airport and take us to our hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing and Trek Preparation. 

Day tour of Kathmandu city, after breakfast in the morning you will Proceed on to Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Patan Darbar Square, and Swayambhunath Stupa. Swayambhunath is a Buddhist Stupa said to be more than 2000 years old, is perched on a hillock 77 meters above the valley floor, and offers a bird’s eye view of Kathmandu City. Afternoon, tour of Patan, also known as Lalitpur or the “city of beauty” is the oldest city in the valley. A great center both for the Newari Buddhist religion and traditional arts & crafts with 136 bahals or courtyards and 55 major temples. Overnight at your hotel in Kathmandu

Day 03: Drive or Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu which takes 35 minutes. Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu which takes 35 minutes. Trek from Phaplu to Salleri and it takes about four hours. You can see the local market in Salleri and enjoy a visit to local monasteries such as Chewang Monastery. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 04: Trek from Salleri to Ghunsa via Dorpu and it takes about six hours.

Day 05: Trek from Ghunsa to Pattale via Kerung which takes about eight hours.

Day 06: Trek from Pattale to Jhapre and it takes about six hours.

Trek from Pattale to Jhapre and it takes about six hours. You can see wild orchids on the way. Here you can view beautiful landscapes along the Solu Okhaldhunga border. There are monasteries and a Buddhist stupa in Jhapre. The cultural show performed here is worth watching. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 07: Trek from Jhapre to Pikey which takes about six hours.

Trek from Jhapre to Pikey which takes about six hours. This day you experience high altitude vegetation and can see Himalaya flora and fauna. You find centuries-old monasteries, Buddhist stupas, and mani stones. Yak herding can be seen in different places. You are accompanied by unique landscapes and sceneries. This particular area is feasible for marathon and mountain bike races. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 08: Trek from Pikey to Junbesi and it takes about five hours.

Trek from Pikey to Junbesi and it takes about five hours. The trail goes from Pikey to Junbesi via Pikey Peak. While trekking up to Pikey Peak you can see a beautiful sunrise view and mountain peaks from Kanchenjunga to Dhaulagiri including Everest. After you cross Pikey Peak you walk down through the unique landscape of Junbesi Valley. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 09: Trek from Junbesi to Thupten Chholing and trek back to Junbesi which takes about four hours.

At Thuptenchholing you can observe traditional Tibetan medicinal therapy. Taking a tour of Junbesi village will add long long-lasting experience. Here you can taste local food and drink.
