Everest Base Camp Trek via Jiri is suitable for those visitors who wish to complete the same trail used by Hillary and Tenzing and make their way up to the Everest region. Jiri is a small village in the eastern region of Nepal. The Jiri route offers an incomparable combination of natural and cultural wonders.

Day 07: Explore Junbesi surrounding including Thubten Choling Monastery

Day 20: Trek to Lukla (2800m) 7 hours walk.
Day 21: Back to Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)
Our HSA Representative waits for you outside the International Airport Terminal gate. Then, welcomes you and transfers you to the hotel. Overnight stay in a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Full-day Kathmandu City excursion
After breakfast, a full-day Kathmandu City excursion begins. A visit to World Heritage Sites like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square is remarkable. The sacred Hindu temple Pashupatinath is worldwide popular. The visit to the biggest Boudhanath Stupa is soothing. The view from the top of Swayambhunath Stupa is breathtaking. Many monkeys are there. Hence, famous as Monkey Temple too. Later, visit the most beautiful Kathmandu Durbar Square. The highlight of this place is the living goddess Kumari Temple, Hanumandhoka Durbar, the Kaal Bhairav temple, and many more cultural wonders. Overnight at a hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu – Shivalaya (1,767m/5,510ft): 8-10 hrs bus drive.
A morning scenic drive to Shivalaya from Kathmandu. Enjoy the beautiful panoramic mountain views, terraced fields, lovely villages, rivers, and green hills on the way. Arrive at Shivalaya and stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 04: Shivalaya – Bhandar (2,200m/7,200ft): 5-6 hrs trek.
Commence the trek by passing a stream and then a steep climb traversing several places. Walk through the forested trail and keep continuing and reach Deurali. Witness mani wall and stunning mountain ranges in the backdrop. Arrive at Bhandar and stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 05: Bhandar – Sete (2,520m/8,220ft): 5-6 hrs.
A descending trail starts walking through the lower fields of the village and following a stream. Pass through dense forest and came across the riverbank of Kenja. From there, steep ascend to Lamjura Pass and continue walking. Reach Sete after taking a right turn from the trail junction of Chimbu. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 06: Sete – Junbesi (2,680m 8,850ft): 6-7 hrs.
Trek begins with Sete enjoying the gradual walk through the forest of rhododendron, maple, birch, and magnolia. Witness different color rhododendron in different seasons. Walk downhill through the fir and hemlock forest and again ascend to the huge mani wall. Stay overnight at a beautiful Sherpa village Junbesi amidst beautiful surroundings.

Day 07: Explore Junbesi
After a week-long walk, an acclimatization rest day at Junbesi. A day is spent exploring the Junbesi. Visit the surrounding Buddhist monasteries like Tashi Thongmon Gompa, and the largest Thubten Choling Monastery of Junbesi. These monasteries are beautifully designed and have a peaceful feeling upon exploring them. Interact with the locals and visit the nearby places too. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 08: Junbesi – Nunthala (2,250m/7,500ft): 5-6 hrs.
Traverse through a wooden bridge over Junbesi Khola and trek on a steep trail to Khurtang. The first glimpse of Mera Peak, Thamserku, and Everest from here. Continue walking downhill and then uphill to Ringmo village. Pass through the attractive artistic monastery of Takshindo. Walk downhill through the forest of conifer and rhododendron adoring the surrounding natural beauties. Cross through wooden bridges and arrive at Nunthala. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 09: Nunthala – Bupsa (2,360m/7,750ft): 5-6 hrs.
Walk through the downhill trail traversing a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. The trail ascends through the lovely terraced fields and reaches Khari Khola. From there, cross a suspension bridge and continue a steep climb to Bupsa. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 10: Bupsa – Ghat (2,590m/8,550ft): 5-6 hrs.
Trek begins climbing gradually and enjoys walking through the forest. Encounter some monkeys as well. On the way, get a view of the sacred Mt. Khumbila. Traverse through Paiya Khola and continue walking uphill and downhill to Surkhe. Continue walking on the trail along the side of Dudh Koshi River and pass Thado Koshi and arrive at Ghat. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 11: Ghat – Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,280 ft): 5-6 hrs.
Walk through the rocky path and ascend to Phakding. Traverse a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. Walk through the forest of pine, and cross the villages of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, and Jorsale. Continue walking and pass the Tenzing-Hillary suspension bridge. Walk through the pine forest for some hours and reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 12: Acclimatization Day – Namche Bazaar: (3,440m/11,284ft)
Acclimatization rest day at Namche to adjust to the high altitude. Explore around Namche. Interact with friendly Sherpa locals and visit the Sagarmatha National Park. The national park is home to diverse flora and fauna. After that short tour around Sherpa village Khumjung. An awesome view of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and many more snow-capped mountains. Later, in the evening enjoy some coffee and bakery items at Namche. Alternately, explore Nganpa La to witness panoramic mountain vistas. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 13: Namche Bazzar – Tengboche (3,870m/12,694ft): 5-6 hrs.
A pleasant walk on the trail enjoying the stunning views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Walk downhill and cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River amidst the beautiful scenery. An uphill walk through the pine and juniper forest continues and after a few hours reach Tengboche. On the way witness the largest monastery Tengboche in this region. If one is here around Oct/Nov, attend the Mani Rimdu festival which is unique and celebrated around the monastery courtyard. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 14: Tengboche – Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300 ft): 5-6 hrs.
Trek downhill to a small village Deboche and witness some chortens, mani stone walls, and a nun monastery. Traverse suspension bridge over Imja Khola and ascend to Pangboche in the backdrop of Mt. Ama Dablam. Follow the trail towards Imja Valley and run into the confluence of Lobuche River and keep continuing until Dingboche. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 15: Acclimatization Day in Dingboche
A rest acclimatization day at Dingboche. Spend the day exploring nearby places. A day hike to Chukkung commences via Imjatse Valley. A much-needed hike to adjust to the high altitude of the next destinations. Enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and impressive views of Imja Glacier, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Imjatse Valley. Return gradually to Chukkung and have lunch over there. After that, return to Dingboche and overnight at a lodge.

Day 16: Dingboche – Lobuche (4,940/16,207ft): 7km, 5-6 hrs
Walk towards Lobuche enjoying the yaks grazing en route. Walk through the wooden bridge and it leads to the Khumbu Glacier moraine. On the way, admire the stunning views of Mt. Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal. An hour’s walk to reach Lobuche. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 17: Lobuche – Gorak Shep – Everest Base Camp (5,364 m/17,594 ft): – Gorak Shep, 15km, 8-10 hrs
An exciting trek commences towards the Everest Base Camp. Follow the rocky trail and continue to Gorak Shep passing Khumbu Glacier. Have lunch at a hotel in Gorak Shep. Proceed further towards Everest Base Camp. A few hours of the walk takes to the base camp where one can witness spectacular views of Khumbu Icefall, Lhotse, Nuptse, and other snow-capped mountains. Spend some time around the base camp and take some snaps for memories. After that, return to Gorak Shep. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 18: Gorak Shep – Kala Patthar (5,545m/18,192 ft) – Pheriche (4,280m/14,070ft): 15km, 8-10 hrs
Another exciting trek commences after accomplishing the Everest Base Camp. A trek to Kala Patthar from Gorak Shep admiring the surrounding beauty in the lap of mountains. An early morning trek commences around 3 am to get a glorious sunrise view from Kala Patthar over the world’s highest Mt. Everest, and surrounding mountains. Enjoy some time over there and return to Gorak Shep. Have breakfast at a lodge in Gorak Shep and return to Pheriche for an overnight stay.

Day 19: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m), 7-hour walk.
Trek commences walking downhill on slopes to Pangboche. From there, cross a bridge and arrive at Tengboche. Walk through the descent trail crossing the dense forest to Phungi Tenga. From there, cross the Dudh Koshi River via a bridge over it. Keep continuing on the trail with an uphill walk and arrive at the vibrant Sherpa town Namche Bazaar. Overnight at a lodge.

Day 20: Trek to Lukla (2800m) 7 hours walk.
Enjoy the trek back to Lukla and recall all the adventurous and fun moments spent during this long trek journey. Arrive at Lukla and later celebrate with fellow trekkers upon accomplishing the trek at the lodge. Stay Overnight.

Day 21: Flight to Kathmandu
The last day in this beautiful Everest region. Take a 35-minute morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Then, transfer to the hotel and spend quality free time exploring nearby places. Stay Overnight.

Important Note – Change weather is a regular phenomenon along the Himalayan range. It is thus possible that domestic flights from Kathmandu to/from Lukla might be delayed for a few hours or even canceled for a day or more. Fortunately, this does not happen frequently during the high seasons of March–May or September to November: but you need to plan for this possibility.
