Tamang Heritage Trail lies near to the regular Langtang valley trekking route. The region has densely Tibetan origin Tamang inhabitants. They were living with their own traditional way of life generation to generation. Tamang Heritage Trail is open recently for trekkers to explore and experience its local cultural heritage; it helps to make their Nepal trekking more interesting and joyful. Trekkers can also enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped mountains and abundant of wildlife snow-cappedopards, red panda’s and musk deer etc. In March and April, the Rhododendron forests have different species of trees, birds and butterflies.

During the Tamang Heritage Trail, you can also discover the rough history of the Tibetan ancestors. The valley also offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow- capped peaks, grassy downs and meadows strewn with daisies and wild primula as real nomad sceneries. Along the trek trekkers get chance to discover the route history of the Tibetan ancestors; those had been migrated long time ago. Their descendants are now Buddhists and they are living on agriculture and trade. They dress colorful and their houses are enhancing with beautiful woodcarvings which are now became main attraction for travelers.

Tamang Heritage Trail, a relatively new trail and have an excellent walk; whether there is conjunction with Langtang Valley Trek or not. It attracts far fewer trekkers and it is less commercial than most of the other trails, leading many people to compare it to trekking through Nepal.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m).

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubensi (1400m)6-7hr

Day 04: Trek to Ghatlang (2,238m) 4- 6 hrs

Day 05: Trek to Tatopani (2,607m) 5 -7 hrs walk

Day 06: Trek to Nagthali (3,300m) 3 hrs walk

Day 07: Trek to Thuman (2,338m) 3 hrs

Day 08: Trek to Birdim (2,229m) 5- 6 hrs 

Day 09: Trek to Syabru Besi 3 hrs

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

A representative from Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure will pick you up from the international  airport and take you to our hotel for overnight Stay  in Kathmandu.  

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing

You will be Proceed on day tour of Kathmandu Valley of Some world Heritage Sites such as  Pasupatinath Temple ,Boudhnath Stupa ,Patan Darbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa. Swayambhunath is a Buddhist Stupa said to be more than 2000 years old, is perched on a hillock 77 meters above the valley floor and offering a bird’s eye view of the Kathmandu City. Afternoon, tour of Patan, also known as Lalitpur or the “city of beauty” is the oldest city in the valley. A great center both of the Newari Buddhist religion and of traditional arts & crafts with 136 bahals or courtyards and 55 major temples. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive to Syabrubensi (1400m)

You stay overnight at hotel in Syabrubesi. You then head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubesi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. At the same time, you notice that the road after Betrawati is still under some construction.

Day 04: Trek to Ghatlang (2,238m) 5/6 hrs

While trekking you get to experience some of the most interesting insights into Tamang culture & their vibrant lifestyles. You can see scenery from view point especially as you walk through a local village. The cultural show at Goljung and Gatlang makes your trekking a memorable one. Gatlang set high on a hillside among terraced fields is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang.

Day 05: Trek to Tatopani (2,607m) 6/7 hrs walk

You enjoy the sightseeing of Langtang range and Ganesh Himal. At Tatopani which naturally produces ‘hot water’, you can take a hot bath in natural hot springs with bathing areas right in the laps of the mountains. It is believed that taking a dip in this spring will heal you from your aches and pains. This day’s trekking provides you an opportunity to experience some important facets of the Tamang culture.

Day 06: Trek to Nagthali (3,300m) 3 hrs walk

En route you may encounter animals like monkeys and deer. The panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Hima and Sanjen ranges can be distinctly experienced from Nagthali. Nagthali used to be a popular meditation center for the local monks and priests. Another cultural village, Thuman, is popular for its Shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang. Beautiful views of the mountains can be seen from every house in Thuman.

Day 07: Trek to Thuman (2,338m) 3 hrs walk

This is also a short day where we will stop at Thuman. Since Tamang heritage trails are mostly steep and ascends and descends, it is better to make short journeys and enjoy talking with the people and knowing about their culture. People from Thuman will entertain you by singing and dancing. If you want then you can also join with them. They will help you feel homely with their friendly environment.

Day 08: Trek to Birdim (2,229m) 5/6 hrs walk

You can experience the village life of Briddim and enjoy a cultural show performed by community members. You can also experience a home stay and Tamang culture. To mention a little about Briddim, it is a Tibetan Buddhist village in the bosom of Langtang Himal. Around 43 houses are spread in a Z shape. Most of the houses are made up of stone and have roofs of split shake. As direct descendants of ancient Tibetan immigrants, the culture and tradition of Briddim closely resembles that of Tibetan villages.

Day 09: Trek to Syabru Besi (3 hrs).

This day the trail moves along a gently descending path passing through villages, terraces and magnificent views of surrounding hills.

Day 10: Drive back to Kathmandu

you will Drive back to Kathmandu with splendid views of hills, mountains, terraces and villages. You drive along the unpaved road until Betrawati where you will begin to follow a narrow, but well paved road. On reaching Kathmandu, you can refresh and have some rest. We will have a farewell Nepali cuisine dinner together at Thamel in the evening .

Day 11: Departure.

Our vehicle will drop you to the international airport three hours earlier than scheduled flight.

  • Travelling:

large backpack for your personal gear on the trek (carried by a porter), Bring a small combination padlock to secure the bag, Travel clothes. You will need casual clothing for air travel days and time spent in Kathmandu, Toiletry bag include toilet paper, soap, towel, toothbrush, etc.

  • Personal first aid kit:

Any personal medications, Diamox (optional) helps with acclimatization.

Each trekker should carry one backpack for items required during the day. Your day backpack will contain items such as warm clothes, jacket, camera, water bottles, and personal first aid kit and day snacks. The maximum weight allowance is 15 kgs/33 pounds
